Mick Rock (b. 1948– d. 2021), often called “The Man Who Shot The Seventies,” was more accurately “The Man Who Shot The Last Five Decades of Rock.” Positioned at the heart of the 70s’ musical Golden Age, his talent, spontaneity, and unique perspective made him a pioneer in rock photography. Born in post-war London, Mick's intelligence led him to Cambridge University, where he earned a degree in Modern Languages. His early influences included the Romantics, Impressionists, New Wave, Beats, and psychedelics.

“I’m thrilled with British artist Hannah Shillito’s interpretations of famous photographs from Mick Rocks’ archive. The use both artist make of colour, direct images, the sensuality and fun of rock ‘n’ roll make this collaboration very exciting with Agony + Ecstasy Gallery” - Pati Rock (Mick Rock’s wife)

“Working with such iconic images is any artists’ dream and I couldn’t feel more honoured and excited to have my name next to a legend in rock history. It’s the biggest milestone of my career to continue Mick Rock’s legacy” - Hannah Shillito
