Founded in 2022 by British editor Emma Salahi, former fashion producer of Condé Nast’s LOVE Magazine and executive assistant to Editor-in-Chief and fashion stylist, Katie Grand.
Agony + Ecstasy Gallery was born out of the void for art and photography in Ibiza. Its niche lies in unearthing unpublished and overlooked photographic archives that capture Ibiza’s golden, hedonistic era.
The gallery has notably collaborated with Jondal, Atzaro Agroturisimo, The Montesol Hoteland exhibited at CAN Art Ibiza.
In 2024, Emma Salahi and Agony + Ecstasy partnered with London-based publisher IDEA to produce the book ORIOL MASPONS IBIZA, a previously unseen photo series capturing Ibiza from the 1950s to the 1980s. Spanning Ibiza’s transformation from its tranquil pre-tourism years to the post-Franco hippie era and the birth of its legendary nightlife at Pacha, Amnesia, and Privilege, the book sold out upon release and remains instantly recognisable, with enduring viral appeal.
